Mailing Lists and Google Groups

There are currently 2 mailing list tools available to the campus, Listserves and Google Groups.

Google Groups

Google Groups allow for management of mailing lists and provide a method for communication and collaboration with group members. Members can read and post messages online or via email as well as search archives of your group's messages. For more information on managing CCA Google Groups, please refer to this help document:

After all staff, students, and faculty accounts have been moved to Google, ETS will be moving our current email listerves to Google Groups for creating and maintaining campus lists.

Transitioning to Google Groups will provide added functionality as well as better integration of these services with Google Apps for Education.  Once this new tool is turned on, all current lists will automatically be viewable in Google Groups and they will maintain their current naming structure.

The CCA Helpdesk will notify departments in advance of the change, and will be available to assist you with the transition.

Listserve Configuration

To manage an existing mailing list on Listserve, log on using the following instructions:

  • Copy this link: 
    but replace 'insert-name-of-list-here with your actual list name. 
  • So if your list is called cats-l, your link should say: 
  • Paste the link you just created into a browser window, and enter your list password. 
  • From there, you can configure your list.
